The History of the House

The House

It is said that the house was built originally in the 10th Century and was once part of a convent. During the years that followed additions and changes were made when needed. Most of what we see today was built in the seventeenth century. Everything is built of stone, which affords a comfortable inner temperature during the hot summer days.

Many of the rooms have their own separate entrance, and together with the tower room the house is composed of four stories.lu

Until recently there was a créperie in part of the building, which attracted both tourists and the locals.

Parking is available for up to 8 cars by the house.

The Garden

In the lush garden, which reaches up onto the mountain with its wondrous view, are several paved terraces, perfect for meals and socializing.

Those who want a moment to themselves will find many secluded places, either in the sun or under the cover of trees while in a hammock or on a bench. Cork-oaks, olive-trees, cypress, green oak (green all the year round) and palms, are some of the species of trees one finds in the garden.

The protected lower garden also houses a number of flat spaces which can be used for dancing, exercise, and other course activity.

If you wish to get wet, you can either take a short walk up to the river La Massane which runs a few hundred meters from L'abri la Vall, or you can take the car 15-20 minutes down to the Mediterranean.
